Asian Drama and Performance Sessions at the 2019 Rocky Mountain Modern Language Association Annual Convention

We seek scholarly papers on any area of Asian performance, including all time periods and regions. Papers dealing with drama, dance, music, ritual performance, performance on film, performance literature, the lives of performers, and other topics related to drama and performance, broadly conceived, are welcome. We also welcome papers dealing with Asian performance in transnational or comparative perspective.
Each year, the RMMLA has a large contingent of panels on Asian themes, and the welcoming size of the organization (around 900 members) presents good opportunities for scholarly exchange. We welcome both past Asian Drama and Performance Sessions presenters and new members alike. RMMLA offers graduate student and faculty convention travel grants, and participants do not need to be residents of the Rocky Mountain region to attend. For more information, see www.rmmla.org.
Prospective participants should submit an abstract of approximately 250 words along with a short (2-3 sentence) biography to Stephen West (olwest1644@gmail.com) and Emily Wilcox (emily.elissa.wilcox@gmail.com) by March 7, 2019. Notice of acceptance or rejection will be sent out by March 31, 2019.
